From Sea to Soap: How Our Soap Begins in the Atlantic
Inspired by the traditional Soleseife method, our ocean-infused bars are mineral-rich, long-lasting, and exceptionally luxurious.
There’s something special about the sea — its rhythm, its purity, and the quiet way it restores balance. For us, it’s more than inspiration. It’s part of our craft.
Inspired by an Old-World Method
Our process is rooted in a traditional European soapmaking style called Soleseife (pronounced “zo-lay-zy-fuh”), which translates to “brine soap” in German. Instead of using plain water, Soleseife uses saltwater — or in our case, seawater that’s been carefully filtered and refined — in the soapmaking process.
This method creates a bar that’s smooth, creamy, and long-lasting. The minerals in the water strengthen the soap and give it a gentle, spa-like feel on the skin. It’s a practice that’s both ancient and rare, and one we’ve adapted in our own way — blending tradition with our love of the Atlantic.
Why Seawater?
Using filtered seawater in our soap does more than connect us to the coast — it transforms the soap itself.
-
It creates a harder, longer-lasting bar
The natural salt content helps the soap cure into a solid, durable bar that doesn’t melt away too quickly in the shower.
-
It adds minerals that nourish the skin.
Seawater contains trace amounts of magnesium, calcium, and potassium — elements that can help soothe and support skin health.
-
It gives the soap a distinct feel.
Seawater soap has a creamy lather that feels silky and soft, leaving skin refreshed but never stripped.
-
It reflects a sense of place.
Each bar carries a little of where it came from — the ocean breeze, the coastal air, and the rhythm of the tides. It’s a small but meaningful connection to the Cape and the Atlantic we love.

A Gentle Science
Making seawater soap isn’t as simple as swapping water for saltwater — it takes balance. Too much salt and the soap won’t lather properly; too little and the effect is lost. Over time, we’ve refined our process to find that sweet spot — enough mineral richness for a creamy bar, but gentle enough for all skin types.
It’s a method that takes patience, precision, and a bit of coastal intuition — something we’ve come to appreciate with every batch.
A Connection to the Coast
At the heart of it, using filtered seawater is our way of bringing a little piece of the ocean to your everyday routine. It’s our nod to the tides that shape our coastlines, the salt air that lingers on Cape mornings, and the calm that comes from time spent by the sea.
Every bar we pour, cut, and cure is a quiet reminder of that connection — a simple, natural luxury that begins and ends with the ocean.
